Halesia carolina also called Carolina Silverbell.
This tree originating from North America becomes a 6 to 8 meter high tree with a wide crown and a few nice features.
The design is sometimes multi-stemmed but also kept as a standard.
The fresh green leaves are oval and up to 6-10 cm long. Has gray branches and the bark of the tree discolored to black / gray.

In April / May the Halesia carolina blooms very profusely with white bell-shaped flowers in flower clusters.
These have some resemblance to silverbells hence the name of the tree.
After flowering, long-stemmed drupes appear that are about 3 cm long.

In autumn the leaves turn very beautifully to yellow.
The Carolina Silverbell likes to be in a sunny place or partial shade and can be planted in any normal fertile soil. Shaping young plants to create the correct shape is no problem.
In winter, the tree loses all its leaves.
Winter hardiness zone 6a (-22ºC).
