Yucca gloriosa variegata, or palm lily, is a perennial plant that is very drought tolerant and tolerates a lot of heat.
While other plants struggle in the heat, this yucca is perfect for planting in a warm, south-facing spot.
Palm lilies combine well with other border plants.
The palm lily blooms in the months of July and August with white/pink flowers that show off above the foliage.
The variegated part of this plant comes from the color of the leaves. Unlike the "ordinary" gloriosa, this plant has variegated leaves, green with yellow. An extra eye-catcher for this special hardy plant.
The Yucca gloriosa is also evergreen and has no trouble at all with our winters.
The leaves are grey/green and it grows to 80 cm tall. The total height of a mature plant is approximately 150 cm, making it suitable for most gardens.
The soil type can be permeable and really does not need to be rich for healthy growth.
Winter hardiness zone 4b (-30ºC).
