Colocasia esculenta "Royal Hawaiian Aloha", also known as “Elephant Ear,” belongs to the Araceae family. This family also includes the Calla Lily (Zantedeschia).
This particular Colocasia is a newly developed variety and is considered one of the most cold-hardy types.
The plant grows to about 100–150 cm in height, has green to black stems, and large leaves.
The leaves have a beautiful green sheen and range in color from dark green to black. The large leaves are carried on green-colored stems, giving the plant an attractive appearance.
The Colocasia likes to have extra water and fresh food in the summer, this will greatly benefit the growth.
Can also be used as a marsh plant in a shallow pond area, the plant gets a lot of surplus food from your water.
