Product description

Pyrus communis Cocomerina or Pyrus communis Sanguinole, is also known as blood pear.
This is an old variety that is difficult to obtain. These originate from the Apennine Mountains in Italy, mainly in the Appennino Cesenate and Ville di Montecoronaro regions.
This old pear variety is somewhat forgotten, but is maintained by farmers and associations in this region.

The Pyrus communis Cocomerina is self-pollinating and the fruit tree gives special fruit.
In the early spring the tree blooms very exuberant with white scented blossoms.
The blood pear is known for its powerful and productive harvest.

The pears are from the outside green / yellow to red (if almost ripe) and the flesh of this particular pear is red. The Cocomerina owes its name to this.
Sweet and very fragrant, delicious taste that resembles watermelon with a hint of muscat.
The pears mature in mid-September, they are medium in size and ovoid.

Plucked fruits can be kept in a cool place (otherwise share with the neighbors, you will certainly make friends with this delicious fruit!).
If you have so much that fresh food can not be kept up, then they can also be used in all kinds of dishes by stewing and freezing or making jelly.

The fruit tree likes to stand in a sunny place. Pruning is done at the beginning of March if necessary and removing the ascending shoots.
Winter hardiness zone 6a (-25ºC).
