Prunus dulcis or Amygdalus communis is also called the Almond tree. We sell the cultivar "Mandorlo Tuono" and "Supernova" both a sweet and rich fruit-bearing variety.
It originates from China but has been cultivated for more than 2000 years in the Mediterranean.
The Prunus dulcis, like the peach, nectarine, plum, cherry and apricot, also belongs to the stone fruits.
The almond tree grows on a trunk but reasonably bushy and open.
The leaf is very similar to that of the peach tree.

In March the flower buds are so far and the lush blossom begins.
The blossom of the sweet species is white / pink in color, the blossom of the bitter species is completely pink.
There is also the danger of night frost during the flowering period during which the first fruit formation can freeze. In case of frost, you can provide the almond tree with a layer of climate cloth to protect it at night.

Almond trees do not bear fruit until the age of 5 (the fruit trees that we supply are already bearing fruit).
After the blossom has blossomed, it develops into a velvet hairy fruit that resembles a peach. From the end of August until the end of October, the fruits rip open and the almonds fall.
The Almond tree is hardy and does not need to be protected quickly.
Winter hardiness zone 6b (-20ºC).

Boompje is perfect aangekomen ondanks de drukte bij postnl, petje af hoor. Ik kan nog niet vertellen hoe die het doet maar ik verheug me al op de eerste bloempjes en misschien zelfs al een nootje in 2021?
