Justicia megaskepasma (botanically accepted as Megaskepasma erythrochlamys) is an evergreen tropical ornamental shrub belonging to the acanthus family (Acanthaceae). It is native to northern South America, particularly Venezuela and surrounding regions. Due to its large, vibrant red flower displays, it has become a popular ornamental plant in tropical and subtropical gardens around the world.

The plant develops into a strong, bushy shrub with large, oval, dark green leaves. Its most striking feature is the impressive upright flower spikes, surrounded by bright red to crimson bracts. The small white flowers emerge between these colourful bracts, creating a beautiful contrast. These large red floral structures resemble a cloak, which inspired the common name Brazilian Red Cloak.

Megaskepasma erythrochlamys has an upright, densely branched growth habit and can reach a height of approximately 3 metres under favourable tropical conditions. It grows best in a warm, sheltered location with bright light and protection from intense midday sun. A fertile, well-drained soil that remains evenly moist will encourage healthy growth and abundant flowering.

Flowering usually occurs during the warmer months and can continue for an extended period when growing conditions are ideal. With its large leaves and spectacular red flower clusters, this plant makes an excellent focal point in tropical gardens, conservatories, and as a container plant that can be overwintered indoors in cooler climates.

Like many tropical plants, the Brazilian Red Cloak is not frost tolerant. In regions with cold winters, it should be grown as a container plant and protected from temperatures below freezing.
