Caesalpinia gilliesii or Bird of paradise is actually a tropical / subtropical leguminous plant. This Caesalpinia gilliesii is an exotic shrub / tree.
The exot is also called the Bird of Paradise Bush and is kept leafy when it comes through winter at + 6ºC.
If it is around freezing, it will lose its leaf.

The leaf resembles that of the sleeping tree and is also double sprung, these leaves also fold together in the evening in the sleep mode.
The inflorescence is very beautiful and looks tropical.
It is an ideal tub plant for a terrace or balcony. Plants can be planted in open ground, provided they are well protected against moderate and severe frost.

At the end of the flowering period in late summer, pods appear from the faded flowers. These will be 10/15 cm long. The seed in these pods is difficult to germinate in our climate.
The bird of paradise is highly recommended because of its beautiful leaves and flowers that blossom all summer and for those who want something special in their garden / terrace.
