Product information
  • Article number: DIEBIC1

Dietes bicolor (also known as yellow Wild Iris or biweekly lily) is a lump-forming root-flowered perennial with long sword-like light green leaves, growing from multiple fans at the base of the clump. The flowers are yellow with three dark purple spots, each surrounded by an orange outline, and are followed by a capsule that can bend the flower stalks to the ground. The flowers stand on a thin flower stalk and protrude just above the leaf. Often after a period of drought when it rains well, new flowers appear in abundance.

Very easy container plant. If planted in open ground, then cover well so that the rhizomes do not freeze, in the spring the plant appears again.

If the Dietes is kept as a container plant then hibernate frost-free, root ball should not freeze. Plant is therefore evergreen.

Winter hardiness zone 9 (-3ºC).
