The Phoenix canariensis is an ideal palm to hold in a tub on your terrace, can be brought home in the winter.
Endures heat very well and is an easy plant that will do well on any terrace or balcony.
The Phoenix canariensis comes from the Canary Islands, where it grows in the wild in humid places to the most arid places. In the cockpit an extra donation of water is always welcome in extreme heat, the growth will benefit this.
The dates are not edible as opposed to the Phoenix dactylifera. In the winter give little water, slightly moist certainly not too wet (applies to every palm in the winter).
These palms are sometimes sold with the guarantee that they are hardy. This is absolutely not the case, our winters do not tolerate the plants without protection from light frost.
If planted in the ground, packing is necessary and you must also heat up the palm for safety.
Retrieving the palm tree or hibernating coolly if kept in a tub is also possible.
Winter hardiness zone 9a (-5 / -6ºC).
