Cheilocostus speciosus also known as Costus speciosus. Also called crepe ginger because the white petal leaves on crepe paper.
This is the most frost resistant ginger available.
This particular ghost species originates in South East Asia, India and Indonesia. In India, this plant is well-known for its therapeutic effect and the rootstocks are used for it. The flower buds are also edible and are eaten freshly in salads or used as garnish.
He grows shrub-shaped and can grow to 150 cm high. The stems grow up like a corkscrew in a spiral shape. The leaf is 30 cm long and 10 cm wide and is light green in color. the top is smooth and the bottom velvet.

The very special and rising flowering is a sort of torch with dark red bracts. From this appear alternately large white translucent flowers.
If the light from the back shines through the flower it shines brightly.
The bloom begins in summer and continues until autumn.
The plant is preferable in a sunny place, too much shade results in less or no bloom.
Cheilocostus speciosus may receive a little more fertilizer on a weekly basis with a higher phosphorus content. This will be the rootstocks and the flowering funds. You can use Ionic PK Boost for this.

Winter hardness is good, if they win in full ground in winter, the leaf completely dies, take care of a wet place, otherwise the ginger roots will rot.
Apply a thick mulch layer of peat or old leaf so that the roots do not freeze for prolonged severe frost. In spring, the ginger goes out again.
You can also choose to excavate the rootstocks and win it frost free. If the tub leaves winter frost freeze and keep it dry if it cools cool.
Winter hardness zone 7a (-17ºC).
