Shibataea kumasasa is often used for dense planting in boxes and the like. Can be planted in a tub or in a group. The plant also does well under the shade of trees.
Can also be used very well as edge planting and low hedge.

The thin stem is green in color. The Shibataea kumasasa gets densely fresh green leaves to the ground and grows compact.
The leaf shape is totally different and has a striking wide rounded shape. This makes it easy to combine with other types of bamboo in your garden to emphasize a particular design.
This bamboo can be planted in a sunny spot or in a shady place as undergrowth.

As a low hedge this species can also be used very well, twice per pruning is sufficient. First time in March and then again in early August if desired.
This bamboo also proliferates less strongly than other low species, but a root limiter is still required.
Winter hardiness zone 6b (-20ºC).
