Leontopodium alpinum or Edelweiss is the only real Edelweiss that grows high in the Alps. This perennial plant was almost threatened with extinction in the Alps.
It is a popular plant that must be left alone in the Alps, Pyrenees and Carpathians on a fine basis.
This alpine plant is also very good at sea level in every border and rock garden. Self-dry soil does not degenerate the Edelweiss and gives the plant a more beautiful color.
A sunny place and fairly lime-rich land are ideal for the Leontopodium alpinum.

The leaf is green / gray and slightly hairy and the plant is at most 10 cm high. The flower is star-shaped and gets a gold / yellow heart with white / silver slightly thicker foliage flower wreath leaves.
The flowering period is from June to the end of August and after dark, dark brown light hairs appear.
This plant does not require any nutrition, only 1x a year in the spring possibly a little lime spread is sufficient. As a soil cover, you have enough 10-12 plants per square meter.
Edelweiss is very hardy and deciduous in winter.
Winter hardness zone 4b (-30ºC).
