Phalaris arundinacea Picta has green/white striped leaves and the plant eventually becomes about 80 cm high and is evergreen.
A sunny to half shady place on every type of soil is fine.
Can be used well as ground cover or planting. You can use 5-7 pieces per m².
Initially this ornamental grass grows with pale pink colored stalks and leaves, this discolors to green / white leaves during the season.
From July to September, this ornamental grass blooms with green flowers that turn to purple. Furthermore, the Phalaris arundinacea Picta is well drought tolerant and therefore does well in the somewhat drier gardens on the somewhat poor soils.
From April onwards, the canary grass runs out again with fresh new shoots.
Furthermore, canary grass requires little maintenance, light fertilising in spring and summer with some cow manure is actually everything.
You may cut the plant back to about 10 cm in the early spring (end of March).
Winter hardiness zone 5a (-30ºC).
