The Fargesia scabrida (Asian Wonder) is a bamboo that, like the Fargesia robusta species, performs extremely well in the shade.
It is a versatile and easy bamboo. A place in the sun is also no problem.
The blue / green colored stems turn to purple in a sunny spot.

As a whole, this bamboo has a very nice appearance and contrasts beautifully with the many color differences in leaves, stems and bracts.
This is a treat for the eye until the winter.
For a long time this bamboo is not yet known, in the 90's this bamboo was introduced in Europe.
The long narrow leaves of the Fargesia scabrida are shiny. The bracts have a striking orange / khaki color.

In the early spring sprout the new shoots, these are almost identical to those of the Fargesia robusta and also hairy. The new shoots have an ocher / red color.
The expansion of the plant is due to the growth of the poles and the Fargesia scabrida has a wide pol, comparable to the Fargesia rufa.
The Fargesia scabrida does not proliferate and you do not need a root limiter.
The winter hardiness is good and comparable with the Fargesia Robusta Campbell.
