The Fargesia robusta Pingwu is suitable for containers, but also does well as a solitary. This bamboo is also well suited to warmer locations. The Fargesia robusta Pingwu is one of the largest non-proliferating bamboos. All Fargesia species are non-proliferating.
But if you are looking for a bamboo with tall (4 meters) and relatively thick stems, the Pingwu is the right bamboo.
This bamboo is also polishing and grows contiguous and can therefore also be used very well for hedges and partitions.
The pollen is about 150 cm in diameter. New shoots are formed from the end of March to July.
It is a beautiful Fargesia robusta species with white / yellow bracts and deep green stems which give a deep contrast. The bract usually falls off in the winter.
The green glossy leaves are long and narrow up to 8 cm long and remain well in winter. These are slightly lighter in color than those of the Fargesia robusta Campbell.
In the winter, this bamboo also stays green and does not lose any leaves. After a few years, it is a beautiful full compact bamboo forest with high upright stems.
The stems are up to 2 cm in diameter. Also, this bamboo does not proliferate and no root limiter is needed.
